Want to Launch a blog and build a career as a blogger?

Yes! It is possible to do two at the same time!

Hi, my name is Prosenjit Sarkar, Founder Blogging Parameter & Prottoy Math. I am new to the world of blogging and trying to figure out how to achieve success here. Every moment I’m discovering something new. It gives me confidence that one day I will succeed in the online world.

When I was learning to start a blog as a newbie, I used to spend a lot of time searching for helpful information online. I was only able to find it piecemeal on various websites. To save your time, I have created this free step-by-step blog tutorial to learn how to start a blog quickly and easily as a beginner. It’s not as complicated as you think!

Blogging Parameter guide is a free source that is 100% supported by readers.

Before entering the tutorial, we know what is a blog and a blogger?

What is a Blog?

A blog is an online journal or information site. It is a place where a writer or a group of writers share their views on an individual topic.

In other words, a blog is like a personal diary where you can write your thoughts. However, we do not allow anyone to read our diaries. But, in the case of blogs, it’s the opposite. We invite people to our blog via the internet and let them read articles written for them. I mean, a blog is like a digital diary about your writing that anyone can read and view through the internet.

In a blog, you can write whatever you want. But the writing must be purposeful. Here you can write stories, tutorials, poems, etc. Just keep in mind, that what you write is accurate. Because no one can read a personal diary but today or tomorrow someone will read your blog.

You can’t write anything on your blog by hand. You will need an electronic device (like a PC) and some essential blogging tools to start a blog.

Who is a Blogger?

A blogger is someone who runs and controls a blog. He/She shares his/her views and knowledge on various topics with the target audience.

I hope your idea about a blog and a blogger is clear. So, if you’re ready, let’s move on to the main topic.

Read 6 Quick Tips on How to Launch a Blog

In this guide, you will find all answers to how to launch a blog and make money by blogging.

Launch a Blog

Step one: Choose a perfect topic to start a blog

The very first thing you need to do is find the topic (also known as niche) of your blog. Choosing a random topic is very simple.

We assume you are not starting blogging for fun. You are starting a blog so you can earn some decent money from it. So, you don’t try blogging about a random topic. It doesn’t work in the 21st century and your possibilities of success are even better when you blog on a unique topic.

You can be a jack of all businesses, and want to launch a blog on various topics, but it will not be profitable at the beginning, because people prefer to subscribe to a blog, which is an authority on a particular topic.

Moreover, Google which is the greatest search engine prefers a website that is created on a unique topic.

Now, the most important issue is

How to get the topic of your blog?

To start a blog and do it as a blogger, you have to select a unique topic for your blog. But it is a little more complicated when it comes to monetizing a blog.

Let us illustrate with examples, that you are writing on your blog about physical products. But after a while, you realized that this topic is not suitable for you rather you love to read and write about SEO. And, you are killing some valuable time of your life.

So, when choosing a topic, consider these aspects:

Firstly, make sure to select a topic that you are the most interested in— to enjoy writing about this topic.

Secondly, you need to make sure a topic has enough audience attention—other people are interested in and searching for too.

You can check your audience’s interest using two keyword research tools:

Google Keyword Planner: This free tool helps you find out how popular your topic (called Keyword in SEO) is. A keyword is any phrase that people search on Google. If a lot of people search the topic on Google, you can be sure that there is a good enough audience. For example, the topic for a blogger (a very popular topic) receives more than 100,000 searches per month:

SEMRush: This paid SEO tool is an alternative to google keyword planner. For keyword research, content optimization, and much more it is very attractive to digital marketers and SEO experts.

Thirdly, you can monetize your blog about this topic – make money from this topic.

If you think you’ve covered all of the above, be prepared.

This way you will follow your passion, find your readers, and enjoy your blogging journey.

For newcomers, I always advise taking the help of pen-paper and writing down the topics in different columns that you like. It may be Affiliate Marketing, SEO, Make Money Online, etc.

Now, try writing at least ten post ideas for these different columns. When you write the title of a post, think about what you can write without reference. At the end of the ten articles, it will help you find the topic.

Trump cards: Picking the perfect topic is the first and the most significant action to start a blog.

Step two: Register a domain name to start your blog

Domain: A domain name is the URL of a blog that you will use to open your blog.

Like as: prottoymath.com , bloggingparameter.com

Your domain name will be the name by which you will be known online, no matter which topic you choose. Generally, your domain name will be the same as your blog name, so picking a domain name is a pretty significant branding decision. This is the unique address of your blog on the internet. You will continue to pay the annual fee, and it will be yours (at least $10 per year).

Users who know your domain (URL — Uniform Resource Locator) can simply type it into their browser’s address bar. Others will be able to discover you through search engines like Google and Bing, so you must find the name of a unique blog.

There is some exclusive philosophy that I normally follow when choosing a domain name:

Take something relevant – Taking a name that has something to tie with your topic helps people quickly understand what your website is all about.

Brandable and easy to remember– You choose something easy to brand so that people can remember your blog.

Easy to type and pronounce aloud – Avoid hyphens and numbers that complicate domain names. Avoid the desire to be creative with hyphens or numbers. It is difficult for people to remember and pronounce easily!

Use a .com if possible – Your domain name may be the highly familiar “dot com”, or it may be country or niche-specific. The common rule is to get a “dot com” domain, but any of the other extensions can be used too. For example, “dot net” or “dot blog”.

How to find available domain names

Here’s the tricky part about domain names:

Every single domain name can be owned by one person at a time.

Think about it – if someone decides to buy twitter.com, it would be chaos, wouldn’t it?

To buy a domain name, you need to find one that is “available”. That means finding a domain name that no one else currently has. It can be a long process, but there are plenty of tools to make the job easier.

To quickly check whether a domain name is available, you can use the Namecheap domain suggestion features. Just enter whatever word you choose for your blog, and it will show is it available or also show you the suggestions for the domain name.

Namecheap Domain Registration

How to buy your selected domain name

Once you find a domain name of your choice and available, it’s time to buy!

Although it is possible to register a domain name and a hosting service directly through your web-host provider, I do not recommend this method for several reasons:

Security issue: If your domain and web hosting are located in the same place. Anyone can only access your one login credentials; they get full control over your blog. It is bad for security.

Affordable Prices: It may more expensive to purchase a domain hosting from the same company. Namecheap only charges ~ $10/year for registering a .com domain, whereas most hosts raise prices (even if they give you a “free” year first).

Get a favor: Registering a domain and hosting with separate companies means you have a favor to change in the future.

You can buy a domain name in Namecheap company.

To buy a domain:

  • Go to Namecheap.
  • Enter your chosen domain name in the search box.

  • Click the Search button

Once you complete your order, you now officially own your domain name! Now, all you have to do is connect to some web hosting.

Step three: Purchase web hosting at A2Hosting to launch a blog

After picking a domain name, choosing a reliable hosting service will be one of the most important decisions to start a blog.

Web-hosting where WordPress will be installed. It is a server that is online 24/7 and all your future blog images, your blog design, and everything will be stored on this server (hosting).

Remember, the effectiveness and performance of your site will depend on your blog hosting. The host ensures that your blog is available to potential readers 24/7 and that your content and files are stored online.

A bad web host can cause a lot of problems for your blog. Imagine that you invited a guest to your home but did not entertain him. Your web host is a major part of the kind of puzzle that can create a good blog, so you must choose a reliable hosting provider.

A2Hosting (recommended) is the top choice according to many blogging experts based on my research and available information. You can use SiteGround as an alternative that gets an official recommendations from WordPress but is a little more expensive.

A2Hosting features like:

  • Exclusive web servers
  • Unlimited Email Accounts
  • Free SSL Certificate
  • 99.9% Uptime Commitments
  • Easy to use cPanel.
  • Free website builder
  • Email, Live chat support & Call option
  • Data Center Selection Option

Step four:  Select a blogging platform WordPress (My recommendation)

There are many blogging platforms out there and people have different opinions about each of them. I advise starting your blog using the WordPress platform that I share in this guide. WordPress is the most popular, simple, and best of them. By using the WordPress platform, you can easily launch a blog.

Here is an exciting fact: 41% of the websites in the world are developed by WordPress. Easy to use, a huge community, functionality – it’s easy to change how your blog looks and works without the need for any special technical knowledge (more details on this later!)

Here are the main misconceptions about WordPress:

There are two different platforms called “WordPress”:

WordPress.org – This is what I recommend. It is a non-profit, open-source software developed by a huge community Often referred to as the self-hosted version.

WordPress.com – This is a for-profit service built on open source WordPress.org software.

On WordPress.com, you create a blog for free. But you don’t have complete control over your website. Customizing your website is difficult because you can’t access WordPress plugins or themes and also have blog monetization problems.

On the other with WordPress.org, you install free WordPress software on your web host, which means you have 100% control over your website. It involves a little charge to get started, but the payoff is definitely worth the extra profit.

Essential point: If you're serious about launch a blog, using self-hosted WordPress.org is a better option than using WordPress.com, even with WordPress.com's offer of a "free" (but limited feature) blog.

Here, you follow this instruction orderly:

Start a blog on WordPress, go to your A2 Hosting cPanel, and install WordPress from there. Now, log in to your WordPress dashboard.

A quick tour of the WordPress dashboard

The WordPress dashboard is the control panel for your entire blog. Here I will give brief details about the WordPress dashboard. For a detailed guide about WordPress Dashboard jump to the section.

WordPress Dashboard Interface
  • A – This is the area where you write and publish your blog post.
  • B – This is the area where you control your blog graphics.
  • C – This area allows you to create a different type of content called “Page”. Like Contact pages.
  • D – Here you can control how your blog front looks using a “theme”.
  • E – Here you control necessary plugins that are used in different types of functional work for your blog.

Design of your blog

“Seeing is believing.”, This is the idea we follow to launch a blog.

Blog design is the most important part of your blog because a good design will ensure that your visitors will like your blog. This is how your readers will remember your blog. Imagine you design your blog with such a beautiful look.

To design a blog with WordPress you need to have an idea about WordPress themes and WordPress plugins.

WordPress themes

On WordPress, there is a thought called “WordPress Theme”. These are ready-made designs that are open to all types of blogs.

There are many free and premium WordPress themes. I always recommend going for a premium theme because you will get all the support and starter guides and there will be a quality design for your blog.

I am giving you suggestions about some themes that you can easily use in your blog.

WordPress.org – It is the official WordPress theme directory. It has a lot of free themes.

Kadence theme (Free and Pro Feature) – Fastest, Lightweight, and Highly Customizable WordPress Theme. I use this one.

Themeforest – This is the largest premium theme provider company.

Alternatively, you can check out our blogging theme or an exclusive collection of free WordPress themes.

Here is one thing: There are many more premium WordPress themes, but in the first stage, I suggest you use Astra Theme.

WordPress plugins

Plugins are bundled pieces of code that affect the look and function of your site. It can add new functionality to your WordPress blog, enhance the capabilities of your theme, and personalize a blog in whole or in part.

While most plugins are free, many are offered for a fee based on their unique functionality. At the moment, WordPress.org has more than 58,000 different plugins in its archive.

List of recommended plugins for bloggers:

To save you time, I have selected some important plugins (free) for your instant blogging platform needs:

RankMath SEO — A comprehensive SEO plugin for your blog to optimize your content for search engines.

Elementor – It is the #1 free WordPress website builder.

LiteSpeed Cache — Helps with the loading time of your WordPress blog and provides the content to your readers faster.

Jetpack — WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth.

Also, you can purchase premium plugins from Code Canyon company (A popular marketplace for premium WordPress plugins.)

Congratulations, you just learned how to customize your blog and make design changes!

Create some necessary blog pages

Oops! We can do it. Now, you are finally ready to start creating content for your blog.

But before you write your first blog post (this is the next one!), It’s a good idea to create some original pages that give the blog reliability to the audience.

Unlike a post, a “page” has no publishing date. It’s something that’s always there.

At a minimum, most blogs have pages for:

Contact: A surprisingly large number of visitors will want to connect and communicate with you. See my contact page

About – It provides more about your blog as well as more about you to your audiences. You can get me here.

Privacy Policy: It indicates your and your visitor’s privacy.

You may have more information that you want to create – but these three pages provide a good baseline for giving the audience the information they need.

Step five: Write and publish your first blog post

So far, you’ve set up a domain name, choose your blog hosting site, set up your blog, and you’re ready to go. Your structure is complete.

Now comes the funny moment of truth, and you can start blogging. The real fun begins with writing your first article for your blog.

Creating a blog post in WordPress is almost like creating a page. There are only a few tricks.

First, head to WordPress dashboard Posts Section → Add New. Then:

WordPress Dashboard Post Interface
  • Enter an eye-catching post title at the top.
  • Write the text of your post using the Gutenberg block. You can immediately start typing or pasting into your content and it will automatically convert to the Gutenberg block.
  • If you need any specific styled blocks such as buttons, bullet points, or images, click on the plus sign which will bring up multiple options.
  • Select a category or add a new one on the right.
  • Optional – Add some tags that describe your blog post on the right.
  • Click Publish when you’re done.

Step Six:  Getting more traffic to your blog

So, you’ve covered everything and your first blog post is live. You are probably moving to the next stage of your blogging journey.

“Hey, you’re putting all this stuff in there. Wouldn’t it be great if people read it? “

If you build it, some people may come. But it will probably take a little longer than that to get traffic.
